dreamy sunday.

it's been one of those lazy sundays. which doesn't happen that often as i bake every week for a cute little cafe. but i kinda pushed it back today and spent the morning and early afternoon being dreamy. this photo from forty-sixth at grace sums up my day and makes me think of my mum, who has just moved with my dad to san francisco. she's a professional cloud watcher. i find myself dreaming away the days planning my trip over there to see them. also kinda makes me want to make marshmallows shaped like teapots to pop in my hot chocolate in winter. will be back soon with rummage pics, so very excited about it all. i did manage to make some rather cute red velvets with bird eggs on top..have a peek over at kit and nancy in a wee while. happy easter week.

sunday suitcases.

'Dear all bedroom-bound artists, crafters, collectors, creators or possessors of too much clothing and other paraphernalia: Suitcase Rummage is the event you've been waiting for. Just like a market but without all hassle of tables and marquees and regulatory hoops, Suitcase Rummage invites any young Brisbanites to pop on down to King George Square armed with a suitcase or two of goodies they'd like to sell, and whala, instant marketplace!Suitcase Rummage is part of Brisbane City Council's Youth Week and participation is absolutely FREE - so get in quick. What you can sell (or swap) on the day is really only limited by your imagination. Clothes, shoes, jewellery, stationery, bric-a-brac, books, zines, records - you name it! Plus it makes a great opportunity for emerging artists, crafters and musicians to promote and sell their wares.'

if the shoe fits...

ok, so this has nothing to do with a shoe purchase (although i did pick up some mighty cute mary janes from the salvos for $5 just the other day, and will be wearing them tonight)...but just some of the delicious treats i picked up at the woolloongabba antiques centre this afternoon.

the big vintage suitcase i'll need to take part in an event happening in the city early april, details coming soon.

a stamp (from the art store) for my cake boxes.

a gorgeous platter for my bedside table.

a large italian style frame, these babies are like gold to me.

vintage scarf that includes the blue and brown tones i'll be wearing tonight.

a large shelley plate. i love the shape of the corners and the greens...a cross stitch piece will adorn this.

3 or so metres of this gorgeous fabric. i love the pattern and the texture of fabrics like this. will be featuring on new works soon.

happy weekend.

true loves.

i love to bake, and i love to make art...but i truly truly love opshopping. antiquing is wonderful but blows my budget in minutes...opshopping can take time and your patience is always rewarded. yesterday i was rewarded and then some. i went for a ferret around the southern end of the goldy's opshops yesterday and found so many delicious treats. i picked up some vintage pillowcases, cake plates, a retro tablecloth, vintage paintings, apron and a needlepoint cushion for $3! (I bought my last one at paddo antiques for $35). the ladies at the rspca where i bought the two paintings were adorable. i hope i'm that cute when i'm older. couldn't wait to get them on the wall...

i want candy...

stitching cakes with new dmc cottons that look like coloured candy.

bought some of these little beauties in pretty pastels, might be framing them instead of collaging with them. i'm a sucker for sweet candy colour.

dmc photo found at iamsusie's flickr and reels over at cassia's flickr album. just lovely.
