london calling.

what a beautiful sunny saturday we're having up here. a few mugs of coffee, several loads of washing, some suitcase organising and a long overdue clean were welcomed with open arms after a terribly long and exhausting week. i think things finally caught up with me and i was one irritable character. counting down the days has been no fun at all, days just seemed to draaaaag. bouts of excitement would try and squeeze through those moody moments but were soon dampened by insomnia and early mornings at work. after a super lovely sleep in this morning, i feel rejuvenated and truly excited. that tears fill your eyes/goosebumps all over kinda excitement...i could bottle it. i also wanted to let you know that this will be my last post for a while but i can most certainly say that my instagram feed will be overwhelmed with images documenting my goings on. if liberty fabrics, sweet parisian treats and vintage wallpaper are your thing, then be sure to follow along (kitandnancy), i'd love to have you. i've thrown in a few images from the past few days, nothing spectacular, nothing thrifty, but i know my patience will soon be rewarded. thank you for all of your kind and supportive well wishes regarding my travels, your kindness is heartwarming. i'll be back sometime soon, but until then beautiful people, be safe, have fun and keep dreaming.

it has begun.

i'll miss you aussie sunshine. show me what you've got paris!

fresh sheets and sun flares.

admiring the beauty of nature all week. gosh, she's beautiful.

sunday.

it was quite possibly the comfiest morning i have ever woken up to in bed. i just love how i can open a blog post with that kind of statement, but you know what i'm talking about. that stuff is important to a woman...especially when it's sunday, there's a chill in the air and you're surrounded by vintage floral. bliss. i had to haul my arse outta there though pretty quick smart to make a brunch date with my baby sister at my favourite brekkie spot. it wasn't long before i was inhaling the perfect marriage that is avocado and haloumi on a bed of organic sourdough. a beautifully crafted latte in an equally delectable mug, the company of my sister and a backdrop of vintage dresses and retro vogue livings meant i was in sunday morning heaven. well worth leaving the comfort of my slumber for. it was also the perfect day for a rummage and knowing my girls mel, kel and kim were going to be making an appearance, it wasn't long before amy and i were city bound. there is nothing quite like a sunny rummaging sunday and today did not disappoint. a quick scoot around eyeballing stalls for signs of floral and johnson and it wasn't long before i was rewarded. a lovely stall - 'my nana's joy' selling johnson and vintage pillowcases soon had my undivided attention. her stall was beautifully crafted and as pretty as a picture (see below.) she was having a destash and i was more than happy to pick up her $2 johnson bargains. a beautifully adorned stall stocked full of handmade aprons by a lovely mother in anticipation for mother's day stole my heart, so a vintage barkcloth beauty was soon mine to keep. the gorgeous mel found me hovering over my johnson purchases and i hadn't had time to officially hello her before she was handing over a johnson find to me. the woman is an absolute diamond. we wandered over to kellie's stall who we hadn't seen about town for a while, admiring her little golden books, retro clothes and tapestries all the while. my sister in the mean time was a complete gem, holding my bag of treats, photographing me getting undressed in public (and finding a fabulous vintage skirt as a result!) and not one complaint...more importantly never once questioning a purchase (love you!) as i've mentioned before, the social aspect of rummage is amazing and i always come away inspired by those i've chatted with throughout the day. being a visitor and able to wander the stalls freely is also a treat and something i will definately try and make a monthly occurrence. even though quite well behaved, my bank balance still cringes at the thought of me heading to rummage...but as reminded of this afternoon, the friends, treats and company i shared today makes, for me, the whole event truly priceless.

golden coast.

where do i begin? i had one of the most blissful days cruising the coast with one of my favourites, popping into a couple of oppies, discovering new favourite nooks, wandering the markets in miami and chatting & instagramming our way through afternoon tea at a gorgeous coast cafe. after a night of dancing (and screaming, as promised) to the new tunes of one of my longest loves at a rather too cool for school club, a lazy sleep-in and breakfast cooked for me, ash and i decided to leave our boys/wingmen and head out for a day on the coast. ash having lived in tweed and me in the deep forests of mudgeeraba, we had a few places we wanted to revisit and reminisce over. a couple of my favourite oppies turned up some treats, the beautiful shop 'little love and happiness' which is a beautiful gift/florist combo hidden in the tallebudgera valley delivered copious amounts of eye candy whilst an afternoon of wandering rummage in the miami marketta had me inspired up to the eyeballs. an artist studio lined laneway packed with suitcases selling some rather special second hand goods (a few that i deemed especially perfect enough to come home with me) and chats over vintage florals had me completely besotted. bumping into a fellow blogger and gorgeous crafter trudie from vintage vow had a stall beaming with staffordshire potteries goodness, handcrafted clutches, story books and vintage floral. those treats i will share with you tomorrow. was so lovely to meet you in person trudie and i look forward to extending my handmade clutch collection in the near future. after some glorious chats, eye candy overload and lighter purses we decided it was best we refuel at a little well loved cafe nearby. vegan banana bread complete with ricotta and honey accompaniments soon became best friends with my belly and chats with my lovely partner in crime turned to old stories and talk of future dreams. i really had the best day, made even better by the company i kept. tomorrow i head into the gallery to perform with some rather fabulous ladies in partnership with the new exhibition. if you're around goma at 3.30 tomorrow afternoon, be sure to keep an eye out for some sneaky tap dancing behaviour. hope your weekend has started just as beautifully. i'll be back tomorrow with some of today's finds. goodnight!

if you rummage you shall find.

one of my favourite past times is stopping and smelling the flowers. both metaphorically and in reality...really, it is...my house is full of beautiful blooms that i haven't stopped snapping thanks to some lovely housewarming guests. i'm in such a good place right now, feeling a sense of contentment and happy about where i'm heading. my house is full of good vibes and pretty patterns that continue to inspire me daily. i go to bed admiring my mint coated walls and wake to the most amazing light (when i'm not up at 5am for work!) trickling in through my french doors that warm my floral linen covered face. i've just had the best day at rummage with some old and new favourites, finding new johnson delights, chatting with so much excitement that my words get jumbled and eating divine cupcakes under the shade of a central city tree. i made a few dollars for my europe fund which paled in comparison to the gorgeous instagram/blogging gems that i became aquainted with today. i forgot just how much of a social slice rummage can be. the weather was lovely so this freckle face is off to smother my poor neck in aloe vera and get ready for the week ahead. with a day like today, i can feel myself floating high for a few days yet. thank you to the beautiful people that bought, chatted, sold, visited and generally just made my sunday amazing. be sure to come back in the week when i showcase some of my favourite instagrammers and their love for the one and only johnson ware. you all make this blog world a very happy place to be. happy sunday all!

on ya bike.

why helloooo there. it feels like forever since i touched base with you guys. i must admit i've been cheating on blogger with a little well known new trend called instagram. but let's save that for another post. (tomorrow!) i hope this finds you well on this rather balmy sunday evening. i have a zucchini slice in the oven, i've just finished packing some of my latest thrifty finds away for my impending move (in 7 days!!!) and i'm dreaming up cupcake designs for my housewarming. you know, the important stuff. it's been an ok week, the sun has stuck around which is always nice in what can only be described as monsoon season here in queensland. i've been on some thrifty adventures, beat the sickness and am back on the road/bike again heading to some rather fabulous places. as mentioned before, i move into my beautiful floral mansion in 7 days...something i almost forgot about during my bout of unwellness but oh boy are the excitement butterflies pounding in my belly right about now. the weekend started a little like this...yesterday has now been labelled the day that my partner in crime (aka my sister/photographer extraordinaire) and i decided to go on a 3 and a half hour bicycle adventure. there were bicycle baskets full of fresh fruit and veg, johnson teacups, burnt faces...arms..chests, floral sneakers, an amazing honey & nut slice devoured and a whooollleee lotta sweat (sorry, that's gross.) it was one of my most favourite adventures i've had with her. a journey that we'd planned to last a couple of hours turned into a trip around town with baskets full of goodies. this obviously left us with very little energy (and sunstroke!) for the afternoon but i soldiered on, heading to the real estate to sign some papers and oh yeah, pop by a favourite oppy. she didn't disapoint. i've been in transition for what will be six weeks this sunday and although i have enjoyed the change of scenery, i am yearning to get into my new place and unpack. the opshopping behaviour has gone into overdrive (probably due to the fact that everything i own is in boxes and i need a daily view of beautiful florally things, which i'm clearly not getting)...here steps in the weekly opshop jaunt. oops. sorry mr bank account. there's a smile on my dial and really, that's all that matters. today was a lazy sunday to begin with but ended with an officeworks visit (due to the need for more plastic storage tubs to contain said opshopped treats), afternoon tea at a favourite spot with kate and a mega cleanup/copenhagen trip planning/zucchini slice making/fabric photo taking/inside out reading kinda afternoon. a lovely sunday. now, i'm off to read your stories. xx

on my bike, the amazing nut & honey slice, lots of pretty bikes, kate.

the johnson delight picked up at the markets, floral flour sifter, my favourite johnson pattern, westminster love.
a new johnson pattern, roses on dinner plates, apple green suitcase find, dress to wear in paris.

unearthed this treasure (from my collection) that will hang in my new bedroom.

this afternoon's treat fest. perfect.

tis the season.

to be blessed. because ladies & gents, i am one lucky mf. i don't want to break blog etiquette with that kinda language but since hearing emily say shit on her blog a while back i thought it may just be ok. that's not the point though, but just how lucky i am, is. this week has been a long one. adding some overtime into the mix seemed like a great idea for the added $$ at the beginning of the week but by the time friday came about, i was suffering from friday sickness rather than fever and just wishing for it to be over. i'd even lost my instagram mojo (for all of 15 minutes, but still) and the bubble of the lovely weekend i had planned just seemed to burst, right there in gallery 12 around 3pm underneath nolan's mrs fraser. boo freakin hoo. so i put my sorry arse on the 204 and stopped off at coles to buy the essentials. quality street chocolates (christmas in a tin), yorkshire pudding mix and the december issue of country style.

mood had begun to lift (helped a bit by the smell that was emminating from the chocolate tin) so i wandered home and stumbled across a little pop up shop, right there, smack bang in the middle of my neighbourhood. screaming footy/cricket/whatever fans aside that were bustling about the place...i had uncovered a treasure and so i stepped inside. australian flora and fauna, fabrics and christmas decorations, vintage signs and letters, napery, vintage stationary essentials and even a moustache on a mug were to be found inside. i walked away with a couple of pressies but knew a quick once over wasn't going to be enough. arriving home in darkness and to an unlocked gate (this always means the postie/courier has come), i squealed at the sight of TWO parcels awaiting me. vintage floral found on etsy in one and a love package from mama in the other. a truly perfect end to a rather abnormally average friday.

the first saturday treasure hunt stop for kimberley, amy and i was returning to the pop up shop. in i went, girls in tow to show off the treasure i'd found the night before. more goodies purchased and off we went to my lovely local oppy and where many finds over time had been uncovered with my two best friends (who are currently living their dream lives in europe). the 20c price tags aren't the only thing that keep me coming back. the ladies who volunteer there are completely charming. a few giggles about me not quite fitting into the mini powder blue smocked purchase were exchanged and then we were off to apples for brunch. avocado on organic sourdough which rested upon retro melmac was the icing on the morning's treasure hunting cake. the opportunity to catch up with the gorgeous owners (hi kim, if you're reading this in your car) and the chat of possibly becoming the new owner of their johnson mug collection, was delightful.

since having my iphone and falling completely head over heels in love with instagram and it's 1977 effect awesomeness, i am able to capture the simple beauty that surrounds me, everyday, everywhere. it didn't take an iphone for me to work that out, but it makes capturing it and sharing it so much more fun. so, i come to my photos from the week. i've compiled a 'few' collages for you to gaze upon and for those of you following me on instagram, thank you, thank you and thank you. your feedback has been lovely and i am completely inspired by your happy places too. your comments on here and on the gram mean a whole lot to me and always have, so thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts with me. you make me want to explore more corners and delve deeper into the beautiful life that i lead. and yes, my life is completely beautiful and i feel so blessed to be living it, for having you in it and to be driven to move forward and discover more of it. i am a very lucky girl and i thank you for coming along for the ride. i'll be back tomorrow with some snippets of my afternoon pottering about the rummage and general sunday behaviour. happy weekend all!
