bright side.

evening lovelies. going to keep this post short & sweet. beautiful blue skies, market wandering, marmalade brunching, secret and antique centre hunting made for a joyful sunday. getting my car towed and paying $300 upfront to get it released however, was not. not going to dwell on the craziness that is game day in my home suburb. 30 or so others are feeling the sting aswell, including one freaked out porsche driver. i'm going to look on the bright side, as there are always lessons to be learned and as i had the most productive night in forever last night (see photos below) i have tapped into my inspired side to move through this unwelcome bump in the road. here are a few photos from my day. today i'm grateful for beautiful friends, gorgeous secret owners and vintage delights. no more tears, i'm seriously one lucky girl in the scheme of things. i'm off tomorrow too, which is perfectly timed....art making and tea drinking will consume me tomorrow and i couldn't be more excited. here's to being thrifty this week...and for me, that's behaving myself a little better. you guys though...go crazy for me!

late night wallpaper and fabric behaviour...the best kind!

playing with ideas until 2am...i'm back in the game!

my studio floor at this present time. ideas developed now for play time!

beautiful plants at the markets and coloured glass at woolloongabba antiques.

brunching at lady marmalade's is always a pleasure. it's my favourite place in town.

heading to secret on a sunday afternoon is also a favourite treat of mine.

detail of my new secret find that i'll be wearing opening night...a splurge pre-tow.

Oh dear about that fee but least you have donated to the policemans ball this year. You look like you will be busy for a bit.

You have been so busy over there in your studio, it's all terribly inspiring you know. Feeling awful for your $300 fine but sounds like it did not completely spoil an otherwise glorious long weekend. melx

Sounds like a lovely Sunday. I have a few of those coloured glass jars - do you know what their original use was?

That splurge will totally be worth it. The colours are amazing and you look beautiful. xx

Hi Laura,
my car broke down outside an OP-SHOP (yep) last Saturday...I waited for five hours for the RAC to come and tow it, and then a week for a new starter motor to be fitted! It's been a long and expensive week for me too but like you, I'm a lucky girl when all is said and done...I hope you have a lovely week and good-luck with being thrifty x

p.s. you are going to look sensational on opening night...that fabric is gorgeous.

Sounds like you had a lovely weekend (other than the blip we won't mention!)

Damn, I freak out about getting my car towed sometimes.. Parking can be so unclear! I am yet to visit "Can you keep a secret", the more you post about it the more I want to go! The Southside is often such a trek to get to with traffic these days!

Oh no, not the car tow, that is horrible & expensive. Just found your sweet blog & better yet, i'm visiting your city right now. Much warmer than Canberra, brrrr. Have a gorgeous week & better luck with the car. Love Posie

Oh no that's such bad luck, it sounds like the day had a happy ending though with lots of creativeness going on at your place and lovely places to visit too. Have a great week. Thank you for stopping by my blog, I thought I might stay a while at your lovely space too. xo

$300 is steep! I just got hit with a $100 fine for being late back to my car from an op shopping adventure in Paddington (that $11 cardigan ended up being more expensive than I had planned!). Brisbane can be heavy handed with its fines. I live near Suncorp Stadium and they fine you $60 for parking in the streets around here when an event is on. I warn people when I see them park in our street and get out with football jerseys on. But at least they don't tow!
