romy & michele.

dear romy,

you left this morning and are now on your merry way to the UK. it was super sad to let you go but i know this is the right move for you. i have loved you, for like, ever. it was love at first sight. i thought you were the coolest of cool in effective art class - first year of uni, you oozed awesomeness (much to your denial!) i was a shy young artist that admired you from afar. our first date was to the IMA to watch tracey moffat's 'love' video. you soon after jetted off to san francisco for 6 months, which broke my heart and i felt like i'd lost one of the best things going in my life. you came home and kept chipping away at my insecure and quiet facade and forgave me for not contacting you for 6 months (sorry again for that.) you have been by my side ever since. we went out for sushi dates in our pajamas, skipped rock art class to go opshopping and ate cupcakes in lectures. we moved out together..taking brisbane by storm. we furnished our cute retro abode with our wonderful collections of opshopped goodness and made ourselves a home. some of most favourite opshop adventures (and there's been a few) have been with you. we've gone through ups and downs, boy dramas and lots of sex and the city episodes. i truly love you with all of my heart. i trust you and support your decisions 100%, as you have always done for me. it will only be a matter of time until i see you again. get ready for romy & michele's europe reunion 2012'...i can't wait.

love always, michelle.

ps. you know, even though I had to wear that stupid back brace and you were kind of fat, we were still totally cutting edge.

it's always so hard to see loved ones go some place else and leave you behind, but by the sounds of it, it won't be long before you two are reunited. And, anyway, distance is irrelevant these days, especially when you are so close in each other's hearts. Sounds like the most beautiful friendship. Love all your retro finds too. Bonne chance xxx

Dear Michele,

You've managed to make me cry in Malaysia now also.

That's the best love/goodbye letter anyone's ever written me. I'll be writing you one a bit later too. I can't tell you how much I love you!!

P.s. Will you excuse me, I cut my foot before and now my shoe's filling up with blood.

LOVE YOUUUUUU XOXOXOX

Gorgeous post, you are lucky to have such a like minded bestie. My bestie and I lived together as uni students and there are still tea stains on the wall where we chased each other around the house with teabags! Alas she has been in Latvia for the last 7 years and we are saving up for a trip over. Vintage espresso looks wonderful, love that green velour lounge. melx
