ohhhh ... I love Melb. Catch the tram out to Smith street for some good thrifting, vintage. Madame Brussels - try it! And really yum Cheap chinese for a dinner on the go - Spicy Fish in China Town ... mmmmmmm
Your blog is so gorgeous! My top recommendations for Melbourne would be Cumulus Inc for brunch, Madame Brussells for a drink (I think you will love it there) and I'm sure you'll have no trouble finding plenty of vintage and arty treats on Brunswick, Gertrude and Smith streets. :)
Oh I will have to check back here when other people have commented -I am going there at the end of september! :) Melbourne is so beautiful, I am sure you will love it. I have always wanted to live there for a bit too.
I was last there 5 years ago and I have been wanting to go back ever since! My advice is that you have to have a walk through the northern suburb of Carlton, it has lots of lovely little terrace houses to look at. There is also Brunetti's, a cake and pastry sort of place, located in Carlton -and other suburbs. You should check it out :) http://www.brunetti.com.au/
Savers! I have always wanted to go to the department store of opshops: I'll get to Melbourne one day... I have plans!
Hi Lovely,
I will also have to check back in when everyone has commented. Mum and I are planning a trip to Melbourne next year. Yay!
I read about a sweet allergy free cupcake shop in a magazine recently:
Joy Cupcakes - Southern Cross Lane, 121 Exhibition Street
joycupcakes.com.au
Craft Victoria always looks like an interesting place to visit too.
This might be worth checking out: http://www.melbourneopshoptours.com.au/

Getrude st
Rose st Artist Market - and then browse and on Brunswick st and Smith st.
I'm jealous I love Melbourne! I have only been twice but I know I will visit again soon! It's a beauitful city.
E :)
I agree with BabyGalah ... Rose st Market is a must!!
How exciting - you will have the best time.
Camberwell Market, if you are there on a Sunday, you will LOVE it. In my opinion the very best op-shop (for vintage clothing) is the Super Savers in West Preston (catch the 112 tram from Brunswick St, get off at Oakover St). You will love High St in Northcote/Thornbury- lots of vintage shops, quirky cafes and bars and some of the best pizza around at Pizza mein libre. And my favourite place for breakfast is Gingerlily on Lygon St in Brunswick, their Syrian French toast is to die for, and they make a bloody good bloody mary. Have a great time!
Camberwell Market if you are there on a Sunday, you will LOVE it! And High St, Northcote (up over the hill) you will love- lots of great cafes, vintage stores and quirky bars (out the back of Joes shoes store is divine!) and the bestest pizza at Pizza Mein Libre.
Have a great time!!
I love your blog! I've never been to Canada can't wait to hear all about your trip soon!
Yes, Savers. Also check out Lygon Street, Brunswick: Lost & Found on the north end of Lygon Street (number 1 or 8 tram); opposite is each peach cafe (vintage coming out your ears); a few blocks south of there is Sugardough Bakery (also fabulous vintage crockery, serving bomboloni, creme brulee custard tarts, cookies to die for especially rosewater and pistachio...); Five Boroughs (stunning handmade crafts); or grab a savoury spelt Lebanese pastry from the beautiful boys at Mankoushe - this is all at the Brunswick end of Lygon Street - my stomping ground - enjoy!
