london calling.

what a beautiful sunny saturday we're having up here. a few mugs of coffee, several loads of washing, some suitcase organising and a long overdue clean were welcomed with open arms after a terribly long and exhausting week. i think things finally caught up with me and i was one irritable character. counting down the days has been no fun at all, days just seemed to draaaaag. bouts of excitement would try and squeeze through those moody moments but were soon dampened by insomnia and early mornings at work. after a super lovely sleep in this morning, i feel rejuvenated and truly excited. that tears fill your eyes/goosebumps all over kinda excitement...i could bottle it. i also wanted to let you know that this will be my last post for a while but i can most certainly say that my instagram feed will be overwhelmed with images documenting my goings on. if liberty fabrics, sweet parisian treats and vintage wallpaper are your thing, then be sure to follow along (kitandnancy), i'd love to have you. i've thrown in a few images from the past few days, nothing spectacular, nothing thrifty, but i know my patience will soon be rewarded. thank you for all of your kind and supportive well wishes regarding my travels, your kindness is heartwarming. i'll be back sometime soon, but until then beautiful people, be safe, have fun and keep dreaming.

it has begun.

i'll miss you aussie sunshine. show me what you've got paris!

fresh sheets and sun flares.

admiring the beauty of nature all week. gosh, she's beautiful.

still discovering gorgeous patterns in my home.

found.

twas the week before europe and all through the house, new treats were being collected and sunday was spent snuggled up in bed. hasn't got the same ring to it, but it is eerily quiet around these parts today, and with chilly temps and the odd rain shower...it makes for a perfect sunday in bed. i've had a busy week full of late nights (at work and icing cakes!) and after a gorgeous 3 year old's birthday yesterday, i was ready for a much needed nap. instead post party, i pottered about a couple of oppies, did some washing, cleaned my room, sorted more clothes for the suitcase and was up till 1am booking copenhagen & amsterdam flights. nowhere in that sentence was that much needed nap. so when i woke to rain this morning i knew an epic sleep in was the only answer. it's just after 1pm now and i'm still in bed, pajamas on, peanut butter leftovers on my face and a new episode of friends about to commence. i COULD tend to my washing attempting to dry under the house but i feel boiling the kettle again for the umpteenth time and showing you some of my opshopped finds from the week will be more beneficial, for everyone. i am officially ready for my europe adventure and will be back in the week to show you some of the pretty patterns filling my suitcase and the treats on my anthropologie/liberty/retro villa shopping list. i feel making a rough list now will save me from going a little too crazy when confronted with so much beauty. although it's quite obvious that the crazy levels are already at an all time high due to the fact that i'm flying into copenhagen for a grand total of 6 hours so that i can visit what can only be described as my mecca. somewhere, deep within my pattern adoring heart i am being called to such an amazing place. hundreds of dollars later means logic is clearly nowhere to be seen in this equation but i am finally making the trip to THE most amazing vintage wallpaper shop on earth. if you're following me on instagram/ or know me in real life, you'll have a small inkling of what i'm talking about. here's wishing you a happy week ahead. thanks for listening to my crazy ramblings, or at least...looking at my pretty pictures.

found for me by a lovely lady at work. is my obsession THAT obvious? ;)

german teacups found for a mere few dollars on my way to the party.

possibly THE most pristine piece of pyrex i have ever found. it's no turquoise beauty but this gigantic casserole dish now takes pride of place in my kitchen.

some johnson, staffordshire and parisian plates found and loved.

this beauty still astounds me. found amongst a pile of crappy china plates and priceless. i was almost scared it would evade my grasp.

still unsure about this beauty. looks good here, but on, it's really not my style. being handmade and an absolute steal, i just had to snap it up. i mean, check out the green floral!

gorgeous detail.

what IS it with me and baby knits?

little princess.

when your 2 (and three quarters) year old best friend requests a pink princess cake for her 3rd princess party birthday, there is indeed only one answer. you bet your ass i'll bake you one baby! well, not quite how i responded, but i was more than eager to offer my baking services. a pink ombre/gluten free/two tiered birthday cake complete with disney princesses is what i'm talking about here. the pics below are a small insight into the building of a very special birthday cake for an even more special birthday girl. her mama is one of my gorgeous gallery girls who i have come to regard as one of my favourites. i don't see them as often as i should, with work and life getting in the way, but when we do hang out, it's like nothing has changed. my heart grows bigger for her as each month passes and to have such a little person show me as much love as she does, is completely humbling to me. our last discussion had us contemplating our favourite movies, in which she replied 'ummmm, sleeping beauty, but that's on the hard drive...we don't watch dvds anymore'. she already appears to be beyond her tiny 3 years and far more technology savy than i'll ever be. her cuddles are like snuggling warm marshmallows and her baby blonde curls and serious face pulling had me besotted from day one. i am so blessed to have her in my life and i only get more excited by the idea of what adventures await us. happy 3rd birthday beautiful sofia joan, may all of your wishes come true and here's hoping you'll still think i'm cool when you're 18. xx

let the fun begin.

late night cake assembling/glass slipper cookie icing.

the before shot.

beautiful treats and styling by one hot mama.

taking time out. this much cuteness can take it's toll on a princess.

ps. the best part of today? being told 'thank you for coming to my party' by the birthday girl (and watching her smack the pinata...that was priceless!)
pps. my heart burst.
ppps. how will i ever cope when it's my own child?!

weekending.

it's been one of those blink and you'll miss it kinda weekends. i'm so not ready for the work week ahead that only promises 5am wake up calls and late night overtime later in the week. but as i keep reminding myself, dollars mean vintage wallpaper, cupcakes from hummingbird bakery, fabrics from liberty and miscellaneous treasure from anthropologie. wow, why was i moaning again? i had the most beautiful brunch at apples this morning with my little sister where she watched me engulf a haloumi, avocado and organic sourdough combo that i could have married right there and then. their offerings and gorgeous faces only make me fall more in love each time. a bucket of skinny latte, chats of london and family, a side of instagramming and a visit to a local oppy later and sunday was off to a delicious start. can't say i've been super productive since then but a much needed chat with my m&d who are london bound next week, some copenhagen flight perusing and new fabric find washing has ticked a few things off the ever growing to do list. i'm looking forward to seeing what delights your weekends have brought you, so please excuse me whilst i go feed my face with thai takeaway and i'll be back later to leave you some love. happy sunday all.

you know what time it is.

heaven. right there.

my favourite fabric find today.

wood & sons so cheap i just had to snag them.

jubilee.

happy jubilee weekend all. it's a rainy saturday here in brisbane and i've lost count of how many times i've boiled the kettle. i had a delicious sleep in and then took my lazy butt to a couple of my local oppies. after handing in my exhibition proposal yesterday, i had a small light bulb moment of wanting to find a small bit of furniture to help complete my installation. perhaps a little retro phone table that i could display a teapot and cup combo on? so it was to my surprise after ferreting for not much longer than 10 minutes in my first oppy stop this morning, that i stumbled across a sight to behold. lugging it to the counter pronto to avoid any snatch and grab situations between me and another opper, this gem was all mine. i've already planned to snag an anthropologie drawer handle when in london to complete this little beauty. the mustard vinyl seat is in perfect condition and the legs make my heart beat a little faster. a tupperware party, breakfast at apples with my little sister and some art making will complete this sans sun weekend. hoping all is well where you are.

the little gem.
