i've been up to my eyeballs in food colouring, pyrex mixing bowls, cake batter and vanilla cream cheese icing for what appears to be the most part of today. not a bad way to spend a saturday if you ask me, even though there were a few stressful moments (cakes nearly falling to the floor and icing not working like the concrete i wanted it to be) but all in all, it's been an enjoyable ride. it was mentioned by my roomie a few weeks back that a rainbow treat would be icing on her 30th birthday cake. the girl is a piece of awesome so of course i took on the challenge. the beast is currently residing in my fridge (after having to remove a shelving rack) ready to make it's way to the party venue. i snapped a few pics along the way, hoping it would all go to plan so that i could share it with you. here i am, so enjoy. post cutting pics to come!
like a pretty paint palette.
cooling off.
colourful scraps.
a balancing act pre crumb coat.
the finished product. simple and unassuming with a few rainbow sprinkles.
