the final batch.

it may have something to do with 2013 fast approaching, wanting to tie up loose ends or just doing something for the last time in 2012 but i have never had such a productive weekend. the weekend saw me sketching, tracing, cutting and screening my way to a small body of new work. i baked up my last batch of cupcakes this morning and proceeded to celebrate a little early by covering the kitchen entirely with edible confetti and gold glitter. looks pretty awesome if you ask me. couldn't be more excited about the year ahead and all of the creative possibilities that lie before me. i am planning a big cartel store, some market stall action and perhaps a little exhibition or two. all in my new home of rotterdam come march. why not dream big, live what you love and love what you do, isn't that the way? happy new year friends. see you next year!

there's a party in my kitchen.

'tis the season.

blogging mojo...where art thou? are you supressed by the past few weeks of fabulous family time, packed away in boxes for storage, buried beneath the copious amounts of christmas food I managed to bake up for one person (me) or are you thinking that instagramming is enough social interaction for you right now? whatever the reason, it’s not good enough...poor form...slack, so i’m back. christmas day has come and gone, I’m back at work earning double time dollars and there are only 53 days of my australian life left on the countdown clock. i had a wonderful precious few days with my parents, have been busy baking up a storm (lots and lots of whoopie pies) and slowly getting back into my exercise regime (thanks lorna) to balance all of this over indulgence out. i spent the most beautifully blissed out weekend down in northern nsw with one of my besties last weekend, wandering the main street of bangalow, popping in to heath’s treasure trove and falling head over heels in love with the lazybones store. i’ve been busy snapping away on ig and savouring some beautiful beach time down at coolangatta. the best and only (i do believe) beach swim for the year. i’m a shocking aussie when it comes to actually getting my bathered body in the ocean. i sure made up for it on sunday with a little tanning (burning) behaviour going on inbetween ducking and diving through the crystal green waves down at greenmount. a walk up to point danger to take in the view and indulge in a caramel and macadamia icecream was icing on the weekend’s cake. i feel so relaxed and at home in those parts and look forward to returning/spending more time there in the future. christmas day was a little quiet this year, with my morning spent with a special friend and her delicious kids, playing picnics and dress ups all whilst devouring gf whoopie pies and dressing up beach barbie. i was home by midday and the turkey roast and extras were plated up by 3pm. christmas lunch for one was complemented by an afternoon in the air con watching movies and skyping my nearest and dearest. i am really excited about what 2013 has in store for me and i hope you’ll come along for the ride. i have a quiet weekend planned with some long overdue screen printing action and some ryan gosling movie watching. girl's gotta have her priorities right. wishing you all a very happy new year. i may be back before the new year starts with a little more love to share. until then... xxx

December 4, 2012

we holiday in the spaces of our home.

as i dust off my laptop keyboard and log into blogger, i notice it really has been some time inbetween my posting. my poor laptop has been weighed down with new seasons of new girl and the walking dead and after a week without internet, some crazy storm behaviour and a little visit to funky town, i really wasn’t keen to share my mundane happenings with the bright and beautiful blog world. instagram has been on fire in the past few days however, capturing a delicious saturday spent with two of my favourite creatives, seen me baking up a gingerbread scented storm and eagerly awaiting five days of family fun which starts THIS friday. i’ve been craving some family time after a few weeks of 8 hour sewing sessions and overtime action at the gallery and becoming overly impatient from this whole waiting to move overseas game. i’ve missed checking in with you all, so i promise to get back into it once the new exhibition opens and things begin to settle on the lead up to christmas. i won’t be having any time off over the holiday period as my  family will be spread across the world again and the overtime dollars are needed to fund the planned  frivolous flea market jaunts that are getting me out of bed of a morning. well, that and the fact that temperatures are soaring and we have officially welcomed summer to queensland. more christmas baking is planned for the coming weeks, including rocky road and some more of the terribly addictive gingerbread whoopies. not only are they the cutest looking treat (i describe them as a cupcake sandwich for goodness sake!), their spicy aroma and treacle toned appearance is enough to bring any savoury favouring soul to their feet. packing has also been keeping me busy and i am now officially onto my 600th kilometre of bubblewrap. the packing process has been going swimmingly and only a few pangs of sadness have surfaced. luckily there is enough space in my parent’s storage unit for my 15 or so crockery and fabric filled boxes, a 70’s egg chair and a few pieces of my grandparent’s furniture....but everything else? sold or donated. it’s been an incredibly uplifting experience letting go of so much ‘stuff’ and i have never felt so sure about something in my life.  5 months on and i am still beyond excited about the adventures that lay ahead. i’ll leave you with a bit of instagram love for this balmy tropical tuesday. keep cool friends.
