monday.

hello monday. haven't you been delightful with all of your sunshine? i started out a bit lazy (i swear i'm still aching from boxing class last week!) but i got some washing and grocery shopping done and have been pottering in the studio. even managed to stop by my local lifeline, which is hardly my fault seeing that it's across the road from coles. their stock and prices are sporadic and often lifeless, sorry lifeline. so i'm always impressed when i find a treat, like this for example! so below you'll see a few treats i picked up today.

i also spent an afternoon with my youngest friend on saturday, the daughter of my beautiful friend nadia, who has just recently given birth to noah, who was appropriately named seeing he was born in the middle of all the drama here in brisbane. he's tiny, he's perfect and my sister katie took some baby shots of him for her portfolio. they'll be up soon on her blog so please pop by. this meant girl time for me and sofia, who is 19 months going on 19. she's pure brilliance, i forget how inspiring little people can be. as you can see from my previous post, i also had a beautiful sunday with my closest friends down on the coast. those kind of days make my whole week.

i am a lucky duck and also have tomorrow off, which won't last long as the gallery is set to reopen on the weekend. gotta make the most of these mid-week adventures. i'm off for a bike ride...have a lovely evening! x

sofie, my new best friend.

johnson love.

celeste li's gorgeousness.

i have had THE most beautiful sunday. an impromptu engagement party down on the coast meant beautiful summer bbq weather, gorgeous friends from far and wide and some sunday swimming behaviour. to everyone i spent today with, you are beautiful, and i love you very much. i hope you've all had a beautiful sunday with your special someone/s.

thrifty tuesday.

this working 3 out of my 5 days at the gallery business is not doing anything for my budget, but oh my is it ticking all of the oppy goodness boxes! the gallery is still closed to the public, at least for another week and a bit. it's a bit of a waiting game but the directorate have handled the situation superbly. they even told us to take tomorrow off, which means picnicing with the gang can happen and cherry ripe (a twist on the raspberry spiked) brownie baking can commence! yum! i also popped out today for a spot of opping in paddo, some picnic food shopping and the buying of some pink boxing gloves for my new exercise regime! woop. who knew i would be so excited? the guy at the sports shop laughed at me when i asked if the pink were too girly. haha, they are and i love them. here are some treats i found...hope your tuesday has been as lovely.

gorgeous large rectangular tablecloth, few spills, much loved.

oh dear. i let out a squeal when i unearthed this beauty. straight from the packet and the 70's, and only $6. it's also the biggest tablecloth i have ever found, it's gigantic and utterly fabulous.

i do love my staffordshire potteries, and for 25cents each, yes please!

bought a pretty floral summer dress, fits perfectly. love.

alfred meakin dinner plates for $1.95 each...hello! these beauties will be available at rummage. (for a little bit more than $2, but all funds are going to the RSPCA!)

what is it with me and 70's forest paintings? this is a print but i love it. i couldn't leave it there, it's just so romantic!

romantic tones, yes?

oh, and here are the gloves (not thrifted)..aren't they pretty!? a girl's gotta be inspired to exercise right?

friday finds.

just a quick post of friday ferreting with my favourite goma girl. sunshine, puffy white clouds and opshop wanderings are what fridays are made of. hope yours was just as lovely. x

beautiful lilac floral sheets and a wallpaper'esque floral number. yum.

i'm a peachy girl.

don't ask me why, but i love them..they're pastel, they're random...love at first sight.

i just love the idea of a kitchen tea, it sounds perfect. being a sucker for retro paper products, i snapped these up for less than 50c!

hello tupperware, you're going to be perfect for my salads at work. you're in fabulous condition and your colour....oh my.

rummaging for rspca.

good morning lovelies! as rummage on february 6th is fast approaching, i thought it necessary to start whipping up a few pics of the treats i will have on offer. i might also add that all proceeds from the day will be going right back to rebuilding the rspca property in fairfield. the flood damage was incredible and luckily all animals were rescued and taken to higher ground. my family got our beautiful staffy cross, archie, from the rspca around 5 and a bit years ago so they hold a very special place in my heart. i've ferreted through my fabric collection and raided my crockery cupboard...so come and grab a bargain and support the rspca on the 6th. thank you again for all of your support through this hard time for queensland. i'm so proud of all of you. pop on over and see pam at bayside rose, she has some wonderful treats up for sale, all proceeds going to help the flood victims.

fabrics galore!

beautiful plates and pyrex bowls.

more fabrics..lots of tablecloths.

tupperware, jugs, books and tapestries.
so. many. treats.

teacups and cake plates.

gorgeous rose tapestry.

alfred meakin yumminess.

time out.

some days are just better than others, aren't they? well today was one of those days..the better day. after a few shifts at goma, helping to clean it up and get it back on it's feet, i've come home feeling a tad low and exhausted. i've been getting caught up on the fact that i was so very lucky to escape any flood damage and guilt has been sneaking it's ugly head into my dreams and my day to day thinking. i told myself i should take a little time out just to do what i love most and leave the guilt behind. today, was beautiful and exactly what i needed. i visited some of my most favourite places on the gold coast. i sang out loud to janet jackson in the car, bought banana bread from a favourite bakery in mudgeeraba (it was my family's favourite when we lived on the coast), visited my old oppy haunts (had quite a bit of luck too) and stopped off for the best sushi of all time at ace wasabi (my best friend and my favourite). i also spent the trip back designing new cross-stitch pieces in my head, perfect. i hope this finds you all well, especially my lovelies in brisbane. take care please and i hope you all have a wonderfully inspiring friday and weekend. xx

found this darling boy at chandler on the weekend. he's now part of my collection with this other fella.

staffordshire, fire king & japanese goodness.

who could resist this gorgeous piece of canadian kitschyness!

beautiful tablecloths and floral pillowcase. peach and aqua get me everytime.

frame, hem (the packaging is my favourite part!) and teacosy.

as a perth girl, a baker and the rotto trip being an old family tradition, i had to get this.

being a san francisco lover and with parents currently residing there, i had to get these napkins. (sealed package straight from the 70's!)

how talented are people. dog & doiley lover right here.

a lovely rose painting to add to my collection.

and painted by ruby, perfect.

the past four days.

it's been a devastating few days. i've been feeling a myriad of emotions but with the help of my sister (who lives on higher ground) and her constant motivation, it has really helped me to keep positive about it all. the support that has been shown to me has been unbelievable...i cannot thank those involved enough. with roads closed i couldn't get back to my house to have a last attempt at sandbagging, so i was very nervous that i hadn't done enough. queues for sandbags on tuesday were 4 hours long so i decided i needed to get things up and off the ground as soon as possible. i got a call from a friend at work late wednesday night, who was able to get to my house from the east side and grabbed a group of guys with a ute, a bunch of sandbags and sandbagged my house. was there possibly a kinder gesture???? i will be forever grateful for what he decided to do, to prevent my house (as much as possible) from becoming an underwater mess. the wait for the flood to peak was a killer...nobody knew just how powerful it was going to be. it hit lower than expected which meant my house was saved, but many people in my street weren't so lucky. here are some photos that can't even begin to show the devastation brisbane has been hit with and my suburb was one of the lucky ones. Even though i'm still without power...it's NOTHING compared to what others are facing. Staying positive is key...it's now my turn to give something back, being the lucky one and all.

my bedroom.

my front door, complete with sandbags.

one of the many gourmet brekkies i was given by my gorgeous sister, i can't thank her enough for being there, when i thought my world could turn upside down. xx

be optimistic.

sad times in queensland right now. my beautiful home has been evacuated as of yesterday, everything is up on tables and my fingers are crossed that it escapes the flood waters. doesn't look promising but i am safe (with a suitcase of clothes, a tub of nanna's teacups and my beloved copy of 'spaces') and i'm up on higher ground (staying at my sister's place being very well looked after) and am feeling optimistic. the rspca has successfully been evacuated and spirits seem to be a little higher, if only for today whilst the sun is shining. my heart goes out to those who have lost everything. the support has been incredible, keep up the great work and we'll get through this together. stay safe and dry, much love. xo

sunday & the week gone by.

good afternoon from the house of gingerbread!

i decided due to the lack of $$ and a serious need to use my ikea cutters that a woodland baking day was in order. had a wonderful sleep-in, a great skype chat with m&d in san fran, and then some kitchen pottering. as i no longer bake for the cafe (i decided my weekend sanity and the starting of a new creative endeavour was more important), the idea of baking for pleasure was too hard to resist. this week has been a quiet one, no oshopping has been done since before christmas (the withdrawal symptoms are disgusting, i tell you) and with all the craziness that's been going on at goma with the new exhibition, i haven't had the energy to undertake too much. let's also be honest, this rain is the biggest mood killer. but anyway...it's a new week, there's been some stamping and baking going on at casa de flower, and pay day is tuesday. haha. i hope to get down to the goldy oppies very soon for a nostalgic wander. with the new budget in place i am going to behave myself, but it's really just about the wandering and the chance of falling upon something exceptionally wonderful. i've already been around your blogs checking out your finds for the week, very inspiring! (have you been over to cakies recently? go, now...cuteness overload!) i'm off to listen to more neil young and get the new set of cross-stitches underway. have a great week!

a bit of sunday stamping.

the tupperware is out, this means only one thing!

i baked gingerbread cookies!

due to the lack of opshopping i did come across this cute pair of pillowcases on ebay. for $3, they're too cute to resist, right?

a beautiful mid week sunset, unedited. mother nature can be so beautiful.

my creative space. embroidery cottons are a weakness of mine.

excitement train.

i don't know if it was the sunny afternoon movie date with my bestie (and jake gyllenhaal), the ongoing support from my amazing parents, the clean studio, the reading of 'spaces' with coffee in hand morning rituals, the sorting of gorgeous vintage fabrics or...

the cutting up of lovely floral wallpapers...

the sight of recently used stamps around my bathroom sink (this means a new art project!)...

the start of a new career chapter (and my dad telling me to follow my dreams)...

or this cute photo that resulted in my heart exploding...

that made me feel like i was back on the excitement train and ready to take on 2011. i wasn't sure how i felt about it to begin with, but now i'm more excited than ever for what the new year has to offer. i hope i get to share it with all of you. thank you from the bottom of my heart for all the gorgeous comments and words of wisdom over the past year. you're amazing.
xo
