mondayitis.

...anything BUT today. lunch with my two beautiful goma girls (and new baby noah) was had at a gorgeous tea room, 'queenies', in nundah. ginger kiss ice tea and finger sandwiches, apple and pistachio teacake and girly conversations were had. bliss. icing on the cake after a super relaxed weekend. swear i'm still floating on good vibes and after a crappy few days last week, it's a breath of fresh air. artworks are being organised and cherry ripe brownies are being baked. back to work tomorrow, but a delicious dessert date at max brenner afterwards means tuesday should be quite delightful too. katie is home from her perth jaunt on wednesday and i really can't wait to have her back. i hope you've all had a good start to the week, and if not...it will get better. take a little slice of time out just for you, a treat or two never hurt. especially if it's a thrifted treat. i'm gathering goodies for a long awaited giveaway that i'll reveal in march. stay tuned and thank you for all the lovely comments, you inspire me more than you know.

settled in already.

a couple of finds after lunch today. the colour of the necklace is divine.

love these colours together.

look what arrived in the mail today! thank you sophie! (will be worn whilst thrifting for extra good luck)

visit from the old fella this afternoon. he loves the smell of cherry ripe brownie too.

just what the doctor ordered.

i'm not sure where to begin. it's the end of one of the most blissful weekends i've ever had. my girls and i road tripped up the coast to the beautiful buderim to spend the weekend opshopping, sun worshipping, swimming, indulging and crafting. there were lovely finds at the local oppies (see below), swimming in the ocean (which i don't do enough of)..and really, getting me into bathers is it's own mission, eating beautiful food on the verandah, playing in louise's studio with vintage fabric and watching her work her crafty magic on some new designs sarah had in mind for lace curtains. just perfection. louise, if you don't already know, is trudy's very talented mum, who spends half her time here in australia and the the other time in canada. what a lucky lady. this means trudy and i share the 'having a mother living across the world' moments..and i do believe this has brought us closer. our mothers are very similar and share many interests. just gorgeous. go have a peek at her lovely blog, possum & deer. my two girls are heading overseas in a few months to follow their dreams and ferret in faraway opshops. i really haven't begun to work out how i'll be dealing with that, but for now, i'm going to enjoy their company, love, support and beauty. thank you for a beautiful weekend that was just what the doctor ordered.

it happened...a kitchenaid was purchased. (my trusty 3.5yr old breville died last week) those who know me too well, will understand the dreams i've had of owning one of these beauties.

she'll be elsie, because i love the name and i always wondered why my english uncle called me that. (my initials are L.C.Mitchell)

gorgeous lampshade picked up at buderim lifeline. it was incredible, so many bits and bobs, reminded me of thrift town in sf. i think i'll use this for a cakestand base.

check out this cutie. he's no small cat, he's chunky (26cm long and 21cm high) and fluffy and gorgeous. remember i told you i wasn't a cat lady? well, it reminded me of this cheeky fella, i couldn't resist.

peachy loveheart vase. already sat next to the kitchenaid on the benchtop. love.

a lovely victoria turi design dish, perfect for apple crumbles!

70's homecraft and some gorgeous recipe cards.

you know it's a 70's home when there are trees and clouds in the bedroom.

a delicious new bedspread that i'll be using as a rug in the studio. should look delightful, pics soon.

forgot to show you this mushroom beauty from the finds last week.

what a week. not a very good week. hope my positive/creative vibes come back soon, they've been m.i.a for a few days. thoughts are with nz of course. let's make next week 10 times better yes? a few pretty fabrics always help.

gorgeous bath towel. i'll be the prettiest boxer at the gym.

two loveheart cushion covers. not a huge fan of black and red but these were too LOVEly to miss.

some pretty pink floral sheets. so crisp, straight out of the packet. yum.

a few lovely pillowcases.

sunday finds.

hello! popped over to the markets this morning for a wander and i managed to pick up a few fabric treats. have been cross stitching and watching friends for most of the day, sitting as close to the fan as possible. it's sweltering here in brisbane and my british blood does not handle these temps so well. also had a lovely chat with mama in sf, where it's rainy and cold...when's the next flight? i've been a bit of a homebody this weekend but after the first week back at work, i felt i really needed it. with a few things planned this week, i'm excited to be back on my game. happy sunday all.

delicious fabric placemats, found 3 of the yellow floral, 1 of the blue floral. love an eclectic mix.

love the texture, love the colours.

cannot get enough of aqua lately.

pretty florals continue in this lovely find.

gorgeous summer dress, looking forward to layering it with tights and coat in winter though.

orange and green florals are yum. little tablecloth that i'll use for a new project.

never been much of a holly hobbie fan, but this gorgeous single duvet cover was an absolute bargain at $1! think it needs to go into the glory box.

LOVEly day.

today i took myself opshopping and then for a haircut. found some real treasures and spent the afternoon at the hairdressers talking about paris, vintage fabrics and the galleries. i've got a giant falafel salad planned for dinner and then it's back to work tomorrow. off to see what your mondays have brought you, perhaps after dinner...all this pampering makes a girl hungry! have a great week. x

a delicious large square tablecloth, bright and beautiful.

floral paintings seems to be my thing as of late.

another bob ross'esque forest painting. see the collection forming?

can't resist some cafe curtain and doiley love. that embroidered one is just divine. oh the work that went into it!

a yummy cannister that may become a cakestand. love the mixed spice touch.

oh yes! it has begun. the syrup/batter jug collection has started. so excited right now.

cat lady?

friday was photoshoot fun, with a few sneak peeks shown below. it was very inspiring watching fellow creatives tess and shaelah work their magic in my humble abode. popped down to the coast today with kate for a bit of opping, shopping and a max brenner treat. found a couple of goodies and enjoyed the beautiful sunny weather. have also decided i'm going to buy one of these as my old faithful breville mixmaster, 'betty' died yesterday. this cake queen needs a new machine fast. i hope you're all having a wonderful saturday.

shaelah on the couch...the things you do for the perfect shot.

reflective fun was had.

the cake i decorated for a seperate feature.

photoshoots are hungry business.

the little gem i picked up today.

i found a load of vintage cards. this is one of my favourites. my wedding invites will channel this 70's awesomeness.

whilst photographing my finds late this afternoon i was joined by my new assistant from a few houses up. i'm not a huge fan of cats but this guy is a complete charmer.

who could resist this?

thank you.

thank you from the bottom of my heart to everyone who bought a vintage treat at rummage, donated because of their beautiful rspca pup or saw what i was doing and wanted to help. you know who you are and i'm humbled by your generosity. $350 is on it's way to the flood appeal, i got emotional just filling in the form and explaining why i wanted to donate. the gorgeous fella in the last photo is the reason behind it all. after being left at the fairfield shelter 6 years ago, he got transferred to the gold coast and that's where we found him. archie, you'll never know just how much you're loved and how much you've enriched our lives. we are so lucky to have you. X

you can donate too, at anytime. any amount will help.

off it goes to help get fairfield shelter back on it's feet.

archie, the reason behind it all. so much love.

smoothies and setups.

i'm just about to head off out the door to boxing but i wanted to share with you a sneak peek into a new collection. you may have already seen a few of these pieces, but the project that they'll be taking part in is brand spanking new for me. i won't say too much but i will let slip that there may be a photoshoot happening at my place soon and a new feature in a rather special mag. i also bought a beautiful new blender today for my new smoothie making regime. i'm feeling good and i have the pink boxing gloves to thank for it. have a good night all!

the setup, including pom poms & woodland creatures of course.

isn't he cute?
